It's still the way your child learns about the world, absorbs new insights, works through problems, develops social skills, and rehearses her self-control (a key factor in self-discipline and effective learning). So though it may seem like she's wasting time with blocks, dolls, and pretend-play props, she's most definitely not!

We love the Dick and Jane books! They're repetitive and only use early reader words. First, I read a whole chapter. Then we go back and I read only the first page of that chapter. Then my daughter reads that page. Then I read the second page, and then she does, and so on.
